The Dutch winger was at fault as he lost possession in the build-up to the Blues' equaliser on Sunday and now starts for Warren Joyce's reserve side, along with Adnan Januzaj.
The Netherlands international replaced the impressive Jesse Lingard at Stamford Bridge and surrendered possession before a swift Blues break led to a 90th-minute equaliser.
Memphis has subsequently been named in the Under-21s side to face Norwich City - his first such appearance for United's second team.
The forward joins four fellow first-team stars in the team, with Phil Jones making his comeback from an ankle injury against the Canaries and Sergio Romero, Andreas Pereira and Adnan Januzaj also picked to start.
Jones has not played for United since the January 2 victory over Swansea City and will build up his fitness with Warren Joyce's XI as one of the three over-age players allowed.
